Great Places Housing Group would like to obtain feedback from the local residents and stakeholders of the Grey Mare Lane estate around the proposals for one of the development sites in the area.
The first development to be delivered by Great Places is proposed at the site on the corner of Grey Mare Lane and Ashton New Road located in Beswick, Manchester. It is currently a partially vacant parcel of brownfield land (i.e. previously developed land) following the demolition of the pub in 2020.
The proposed scheme will deliver a block of 69 apartments for social rent and will provide a landmark gateway development into the masterplan area.
Great Places has been working in partnership with Manchester City Council, One Manchester, and This City on the proposals for the Grey Mare Lane estate masterplan. This work is being led by the Council however we have ensured that by working closely with them and the masterplan architect, BDP the designs for this development site are aligned.
We are now at the point where we are ready to consult with the local community, a survey has been produced and would welcome feedback and questions on the proposals for the scheme.
Our proposals:
A single block of circa 69 apartments comprising a mix of one and two-bed homes.
All apartments will be available as social rented, affordable housing.
Private garden spaces to ground floor apartments, recessed balconies for apartments above ground floor level and a communal garden which will be landscaped.
New pedestrian links to improve the connectivity to Grey Mare Lane and Ashton New Road from Newcombe Close.
Parking provision in line with Manchester City Council’s prospective masterplan for the Grey Mare Lane area as well as planning requirements.
