Working in partnership to build better communities

Young people

Issue raised:

You told us you wanted more services for young people to improve employment aspirations.

Action taken:

Over the past year, we’ve focused on building strong partnerships and delivering support across the community.

We work closely with The Welcome, supporting activities for families, children and young people. This has included family day trips to the seaside, museums and adventure parks, as well as activities during school holidays, including Christmas and Easter.

We also partnered with Flourish Together to deliver employability and wellbeing training for women in Longridge and Shaw Heath, and we are now exploring opportunities to extend this support to young people who are not in employment, education, or training.

Working together

Through local partnerships, residents can access wellbeing support, skills development and English classes. We continue to support The Welcome Café as it expands services in response to customer feedback, including:

  • Partner drop-in services, including Citizens Advice and Space4Autism
  • Health and wellbeing activities such as Easy Movers, Breakfast Buddies and Knit and Natter
  • Support into education and employment through Community English Lessons

This collaborative approach helps ensure individuals and families receive support to meet immediate needs while building opportunities for the future.
