Hello, I’m Cath Purdy, the new Chair of Great Places.

As part of my role—and alongside our Board members—I’m proud to be reviewing our 10-Year Ambitions:
Great for Our Customers and Great for Our Homes and Communities.

Before we finalise these ambitions, I’d love to hear your thoughts.

We’ve shaped our corporate plan around what matters most to you, with a strong focus on Here for Our Customers (you can see our latest update on this by clicking on Corporate plan - 1yr in review, on this page), based on the feedback you’ve already shared. Earlier this year, Mervyn, our previous Chair, updated you on our progress, and we’ve continued to share updates through our customer magazines—with more coming in the Autumn edition.

Your voice is at the heart of everything we do at Great Places. That’s why I’m inviting you to review our draft ambitions and tell us:


  • Do they feel right to you?
  • Are they ambitious enough?
  • Is there anything missing that you think we should include?


We’ve created some activities where you can share your feedback and be in with a chance to win 1 of 3 £100 Love2shop vouchers. Everything you tell us will be brought into our Board away day sessions in October, and we’ll also be involving our Customer Committee and Customer Insight Group.

You have my personal commitment that your feedback will be heard, discussed, and considered as we shape the future of Great Places together.

What are our draft ambitions?

Great for our customers by improving wellbeing and life chances for customers through targeted support and services

Ambition statements – how we will achieve this:

  1. By maintaining a relentless focus on getting our service offer right and meeting customers’ expectations;
  2. By partnering effectively with others to reduce inequality and boost opportunities for our customers
  3. By providing a person-centric service which allows customers to thrive in a home that meets their needs – within and beyond social housing.

Great for our homes and communities by creating sustainable neighbourhoods through investment in homes and community infrastructure

Ambition statements – how we will achieve this:

  1. By building new homes which are adaptable to meet the needs of customers into the future;
  2. By maintaining and investing in our homes so that they are attractive, safe, warm and affordable to live in
  3. By ensuring our homes are located in sustainable neighbourhoods with appropriate community facilities
